For most categories it is 13.6% of the total amount of the sale, calculated per item, on the first $7,500. Anything above $7,500 is charged at 2.35%, then a per-order fee of $0.30 or $0.40 is added.
Is the final value fee charged on shipping?
Yes. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, shipping, handling and any sales tax the buyer pays. Charging $0 shipping does not avoid the fee — it hides it inside your margin.
Which eBay categories cost more than 13.6%?
Categories like musical instruments, some collectibles and select business equipment carry rates up to 15%. Check the category fee page in Seller Hub before you price a high-value item.
Do promoted listings get charged on top?
Yes, and the ad rate applies to the sale price when a promoted listing produces the sale. A 5% ad rate on a 13.6% category pushes your total take above 18%.
